Dr.Jane Goodall's Visit With Richie Cabo To See The Tree At The 9/11 Memeorial Museum
by Richie Cabo on 04/15/12
On Saturday 4/14/2012 My Family and I met with Dr. Jane Goodall the world renowned research scientist, environmental activist and humanitarian. She wanted to visit the 9/11 Survivor Tree and to interview me about the work I do with trees, plants and children.
For me it was one of the most important days in my lifetime, because she is an icon. As a teenager I always looked up to her because of the work she did to research chimpanzees in Africa.I always remembered the image in my mind of a beautiful blonde scientist sitting in the wild with the chimpanzees as if they were family. When we met yesterday in person she was even more beautiful than the image in my mind. Her heart is so pure, she is a wise woman, and truly an angel on Earth.
When I told her that it was truly an honor for her to want to speak with me about the work I did with the tree, because as a child I always looked up to her, tears came into both our eyes for a special moment
The best was to see the look on my children Noga,Adam,Zohar and their special lifelong friend Eli Gunther as she autographed her photos and books.
She asked about the work I do with trees, plants and the children, and said that as of yesterday we are members of her global rootsandshoots.org which inspires young people around the world to get involved with implementing community projects.I will follow up on that for the work I do with the NYC Urban Park Rangers and the Sargent~Downing Gardens & Nursery.
